The 2011 Stereosonic Music Festival brought some of the world’s premier DJs and dance artists to Australia in December, headlined by Empire of the Sun, Armin Van Buuren, PNAU, LMFAO, The Bloody Beetroots and Carl Cox.
Sold out around the country, the dance festival kicked off summer with a bang and fired up music’s silly season in Melbourne. Held at The Showgrounds under a blazing sun, the fun began for Southern Cross Shuffleboards a week earlier, when we received an invitation to install one of our shuffleboard tables backstage in the VIP Artists Area…
The day was always going to be a fun one with LMFAO playing – the duo’s track Party Rock Anthem (with chorus “Every day I’m shuffling…”) is currently shuffleboard’s unofficial theme song!
The table saw plenty of action throughout the day, with Myon and Shane 54 plus entourage first to get their shuffle on before their set in the morning. We passed around a few of our “Every Day I’m Shuffleboarding” t-shirts at lunch and then watched competition heat up well into the evening, with LMFAO loving both the game and our mock shirts!
It’s going to be an awesome summer here in Australia and Southern Cross Shuffleboards is excited about all the other upcoming music festivals, including the Big Day Out, Good Vibrations, Soundwave and the rest.
